Tau Fu Fah (Soya Bean Jelly)

A bowl of smooth and silky tau fu fah.




Pour the soya milk from a height into the setting solution.
Its ready to serve after 30 minutes.
Ingredients:

300 gms soya beans - soaked 4 hours
3 lt water

(A) (Setting Lotion)
1 1/2 teasp GDL powder (tau fu fah jelly)
3 tabsp cornflour
1/4 cup water

To serve: Boil together
Sugar or palm sugar (gula melaka)
Ginger
Pandan leaves

Method:
  • Blend the soaked soya beans with the water. 
  • Strain and squeeze out the soya milk with a muslin cloth.
  • Boil the milk in a heavy bottom saucepan and heat it over low heat.
  • Stirring occassionally to prevent burn on bottom of the pan.
  • Dissolve (A) in a pot or crock pot.
  • When soya milk come to a rolling boil turn off heat.
  • Pour the soya milk from a height into the crock pot or thermos pot. 
  • This is to ensure that the setting solution is mixed well with the soya milk.
  • Cover the pot with a kitchen towel and then the lid. Let it set.  Its ready to serve after 30 minutes.
  • Serve with syrup or palm sugar syrup.
