Steamed Yam Cake




Ingredients:

1 kg yam - shredded
150 gm dried prawn - chopped fined & fry till crispy
100 gm shallots - shredded

(A) Mixed:
500gm Rice flour
1.5 lt Water

Seasoning:
2 teasp salt to taste
Chicken granules
2 tsp Five spice powder
pepper to taste

Topping:Spring onion - minced
Red chilli - minced
Fried dried prawns
Crispy fried shallots



Method:
  • Heat wok, add oil fry the shallots. Removed leaving the oil in the wok.
  • Add the yam and stir fry to mix well, add in seasonings and half of the fried dried prawn. 
  • Adjust seasoning.
  • Pour in (A) and stir till thicken.
  • Transfer batter into 2 lightly greased 8" and 10 " deep pan, steam for 40-50 minutes.  Cool completely in the pan before slicing. Garnish with topping.

  1. Made this Yam Cake yesterday. Didn't shred yam but dice yam into tiny pieces (cant find fresh yam. Only cooked half the portion to try it out. Its a success - so yummy and so easy to make.
